Special Collections at Main Library consists of the Gleason Waite Romer Photographic Collection of the Miami area from the pioneer times - 1940s, the Agnew Welsh scrapbook collection of clippings from the 1940s, the Local Document Collection which includes some of the first building codes in Miami, the Vasari Collection Archive of the visual arts scene in South Florida from the 1940s to the present, our subject clipping files, manuscripts and letters supporting our Florida Author Collection, rare books about Florida, a large collection of ephemera, the Cuban Collection which is mostly print materials about the island and the diaspora, and much more.

The Miami-Dade Public Library System also has a large collection of art from mostly local artists that is displayed throughout our 50 branches.
